PM Modi’s Adampur Address: India’s Firm Stance Against Terrorism

On May 13, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a surprise visit to the Adampur airbase in Punjab, delivering a resolute message on India’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism. The visit, set against the backdrop of the Russian-origin S-400 missile launcher, came days after the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, a military operation targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists.

Addressing air force personnel, Modi underscored India’s new “Lakshman Rekha” (red line) against terrorism, signaling that any future attack would provoke a fierce and decisive response. “India is always with peace, but it is always ready to make the enemy bite the dust if attacked,” he declared, issuing a stern warning to Pakistan. The Prime Minister lauded the “jointness” of the Indian armed forces during the four-day conflict, which began on May 7, 2025, and targeted nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation, he noted, demonstrated India’s military prowess and sent a clear message to terror bosses across the border: any aggression against India will lead to their destruction.

The Pahalgam attack, described by Modi as a barbaric act targeting Hindu tourists, had galvanized national unity against terrorism. Operation Sindoor, named after the vermilion symbolizing married Hindu women, was a direct response to the attack’s brutality, particularly the killing of men like Navy Lieutenant Vinay Narwal in front of their families. Modi emphasized that the operation was not just a military success but a doctrinal shift, establishing a “new normal” in India’s fight against terrorism. He reiterated that India would not tolerate Pakistan’s “nuclear blackmail” and would strike precisely at terrorist hideouts, regardless of their sponsors.

Modi’s address also highlighted the global resonance of India’s actions. He pointed to the international community’s growing recognition of Pakistan as the epicenter of terrorism, especially after senior Pakistani military officials were seen attending terrorists’ funerals during Operation Sindoor. The Prime Minister clarified that India had only paused its retaliation, not ended it, and any future talks with Pakistan would focus solely on terrorism and PoK.

The Adampur visit, Modi’s first public engagement since the operation, was a show of strength, reinforcing India’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens and sovereignty. As tensions with Pakistan remain high, Modi’s message was clear: India’s unity and military might will ensure that terrorism finds no safe haven. The nation, he urged, must remain vigilant and united against all forms of terrorism.

On May 10, 2025, India conducted Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation included precision strikes on key Pakistani airbases, such as Sargodha and Nur Khan, which are reportedly near nuclear storage facilities. While the Indian Air Force (IAF) denied targeting nuclear sites like Kirana Hills, the proximity of the strikes to these sensitive locations raised alarms about possible damage to Pakistan’s nuclear infrastructure.
